Moving to a new city can be intimidating. We would like to provide you with some basic information about the greater Miami area, and introduce you to some of the highlights that make Miami a vibrant place to live in. The University of Miami is located in the City of Coral Gables, which is a city within Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The University of Miami consists of three campuses: the main campus located in Coral Gables, the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science campus located in Key Biscayne, and the Miller School of Medicine campus located in Downtown Miami. Our main campus is 7 miles away from the Miami International Airport.
Known as the "Magic City," Miami's colorful history has helped it evolve into an ever-changing gateway for global business.
"The City Beautiful," is the nickname given to Coral Gables in order to convey its Mediterranean Revival architectural style and lush green landscaping.

Rich with cultural influences from across the world, Miami is a paradise for those students interested in rich art, music, and theater experiences.

While culinary influences from Latin America and the Caribbean are the most prevelant, now more than ever, culinary influences from around the world are rooting themselves in Miami's cuisine.

Aside from its nightlift, Miami has an abundance of activities for people of all ages. There is always somewhere to go and something to see when living in Miami!
Miami is home to several major professional sports teams: the Miami Dolphins, the Miami Heat, the Miami Marlins, the Inter Miami CF, and the Florida Panthers.


Miami is fortunate to have the Everglades National Park in our backyard. Students with an interest in outdoor activities enjoy exploring the vast ecosystems of the Everglades.
Miami is home to over a dozen beaches! Whether you are looking for a place to bring your paddleboard or relax on a lounge chair, Miami has a beach for you!

Miami is on the front line of climate change, and the City of Miami is committed to developing a resilient and environmentally sustainable future.

No car? No problem! Miami-Dade County's public transportation system offers you a variety of ways for getting around the city.

Miami is known for its shopping; whether you are prefer a thrift store of a luxury boutique you will never run out of places to shop.
Miami's multi-cultural and multi-lingual reputation, as well as its geographic location, have made it a gateway for international business.


Wynwood is a neighborhood home to art galleries, antique shops, eclectic bars and much more! It is one of the largest and most prominent creative communities in the United States.
Skyscrapers and sparkling lights can be found all throughout the hustle of both the Downtown and the Brickell neighborhoods.

World-class restaurants, chic boutiques, art deco architecture, and unbeatable nightlife can all be found in Miami's South Beach.
